Job Summary
The Studio Arts Technician within the Fine Arts Department will provide the students with technical support in one or more of the studio arts labs. This position will support the Fine Arts program by multi-tasking many responsibilities in the Painting, Drawing, Sculpture/Metals studios, including but not limited to, taking a significant role in the smooth operation of the facilities in the Fine Arts & Design Studios at JCCC. Duties include supervising open lab hours, managing inventory, equipment maintenance, maintain labs and studios, assist students & faculty, and assist with installing and deinstalling exhibitions.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts or other relevant area of study - experience may substitute for degree
5 years of relevant Fine Arts experience in area of expertise.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to effectively work with a diverse population
Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office 365
Moderate level of expertise in applications relating to area of expertise
Ability to lift 50 pounds
General knowledge of fine art studio maintenance
General knowledge of fine art safety/hazards
Problem solving skills
Clerical & organizational skills
Evidence of reliability
Ability to work with college students for long hours (lab monitoring)
Ability to recognize when problems arise and communicate problems promptly to department chair or program coordinators
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in fine art or related field
