The College of Communication, Information, and Media at Ball State University is hiring a Program Manager for Community and Digital Engagement. This position works in collaboration with the Dean and relevant divisions across the University to promote the image and reputation of the College through college-level events, content, and media.

Position Function

In collaboration with the Dean and Associate Dean, this position will be responsible for developing and executing CCIM’s community and digital engagement strategy to promote the image and reputation of the College through events and media.The Program Manager will have a deep understanding of CCIM audiences and investors of the College and University and develop communication strategies to engage and inform each audience. This position will serve as the college’s liaison with relevant university divisions and is responsible for high-impact college specific engagement materials and events for a wide-range of stakeholders including faculty, students, staff, alumni, prospective students, and industry partners.

Minimum Education

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.

Minimum Experience

At least three years relevant professional, educational or public relations/marketing experience including; ability to develop and implement multi-platform messages and public events.

Minimum Other

Proficient with software such as Microsoft Office Suite, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat Pro, Final Cut Pro or Premiere.
Outstanding oral/written/editing communication skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Education

Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, communication, marketing, educational technology or related discipline from an accredited institution or Master’s degree from an accredited institution.

Preferred Experience

Minimum three years of experience and leadership in communications, public relations, content marketing or related field. Strong project management experience, including managing internal and external resources. Excellent communication and storytelling skills with exceptional attention to detail. Ability to focus, collaborate and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven team environment with shifting priorities. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple ongoing projects.

Preferred Other

Reputable interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently or as part of a team. Excellent writing and verbal skills, including communicating, collaborating and influencing at the leadership level. Strong analytical capability, to drive storytelling and to improve performance. Digital and social media literacy. Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, InDesign. Mastering 1 or more Adobe Creative Suite software is a big plus. Experience managing and training a team of direct reports (student workers.)

Job Duty

Build, execute and assess college-level media and event strategies in a holistic manner to engage the multiple stakeholders of the college including faculty, staff, students, alumni, parents, and community partners in collaboration with relevant university divisions.

Job Duty

Develop, create, access and align college-level digital communications and print communications that promote events and services within the college in collaboration with Marketing and Communications team. Manage CCIM’s external communications and content marketing strategy and editorial calendar. Create (or coordinate the creation of) qualitative content in various formats: blog posts, social media posts, videos, photos, and graphic design. Direct and execute organic social media strategies to grow CCIM followers and engagement. Ensure that all content and external communications adhere to brand and communications standards. Measure and continually improve ROI of content and communications.

Job Duty

Manage and implement CCIM’s internal communication plan. Lead and contribute to internal communications initiatives – including but not limited to newsletter, team gatherings, and College Assemblies – through impactful and engaging formats. Encourage CCIM faculty and staff to share and promote their stories with Dean’s Office using centralized system.

Job Duty

Collaborate with the CCIM leadership team, departmental liaisons and relevant university units on the creative, operational and logistical aspects of special events in support of the goals and objectives of CCIM . Provide leadership, professional expertise, and direction in the planning and execution of high-quality events – in-person and virtual – and their content to advance the visibility and influence of CCIM . Ensure that the priorities of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, and the Office of the President are reflected in the planning and presentation of events. Ensure implementation of events objectives in compliance with University policies and procedures. Events include but are not limited to the commencement ceremonies, guest speakers, SuperParty, David Letterman Speaker and Workshop Series, receptions, reunions, tours, recruitment activities, awards activities, fund raising, DEAC, DCAC, CCIM Alumni Society and others as assigned.

Provide an analysis of events and make recommendations for revisions and learning to deliver future events. Communicate event logistics and delegate responsibilities to the Office Manager and student workers as needed.

Develop a multi-year immersive collaborative with a selected community partner which will serve as a pilot for the University. Assist taskforce Chair in overseeing the successful implementation of the program, in line with the CCIM Dean and Ball State University’s strategic vision.

Assign and review work, orient and train students, and make recommendations in all areas related to supervision, including but not limited to interviewing and selection, compensation, discipline, performance appraisal, and training and career development of personnel.
