Position Summary

The Department of Health Education and Health Promotion is seeking a tenure track assistant professor in Public Health and Community Health Education effective August 30, 2021. The selected candidate will be expected to be actively committed to our department vision and mission by pursuing excellence in teaching, research and scholarship, and service. The successful candidate will embrace pedagogical excellence, including technology and collaborative skill development, and will be expected to teach 12 credits of group instruction or equivalent each semester as well as work with the department in redeveloping its Master of Public Health program. The applicant should be willing to teach a range of courses within curricula driven by Council on Education for Public Health criteria. The selected candidate will be expected to pursue an active research and service agenda, including seeking extramural funding and supporting professional and community partnerships. The candidate will be expected to advise and mentor public health students.

Required Qualifications

Doctoral degree or ABD in Public Health, Health Education/Promotion, or related field. (Candidates for the appointment should have or be near to completing a doctorate degree by the start date. Degree must be earned by the first personnel review, no later than May 15, 2022).

Preferred Qualifications

Certified Health Education Specialist ( CHES / MCHES ) or Certified in Public Health ( CPH ) or eligible to be certified

College teaching experience

Demonstrated experience outside of academia in public health or health education and health promotion practice
