Coordinator, Experiential Learning & Special Projects

Athens State University

Job Duties:
Provide highly responsible leadership and guidance for faculty and students in all activities related to Experiential Learning, the Bonner Leader program, the Honors Program, and other special projects as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Strategic
 Develop and implement a communication strategy to advance high-impact experiential learning opportunities for students related to the five identified categories including Workplace Learning, Learning through Research, Hands-On Learning, Learning through Expeditions, and Community-based Learning.
 Remain abreast of existing and emerging technologies, processes and leading industry benchmarks.
 Assist in deployment of the Athens State University Honors Program to attract and retain honor students through the engagement of robust interdisciplinary academic programming and initiatives.

Managerial
 Make site visits as needed related to EL activities.
 Work with faculty to develop, implement and assess EL activities at the course level.
 Work with QEP Director and faculty to identify and develop new EL opportunities
 Work with the QEP Director to plan, budget, coordinate and evaluate Experiential Learning activities.
 Support the QEP Director in tracking and maintaining EL information throughout the year that will help promote EL opportunities and demonstrate the impact these have on students.
 Support coordination efforts for the Honors Program, to including coordinating and providing support to Honor Program faculty, managing program specific events and items such as orientations and student-related program travel, and coordinating the program's applicants for the Honor Program Admission Committee meetings.
 Attend scheduled meetings and work with Honors Program Lead Faculty to assist in program planning and deployment of selected initiatives.

Operational
 Assist students and faculty with policy questions and procedures related to Experiential Learning activities.
 Maintain filing system for all EL activities.
 Utilize the Banner program to assist students with EL questions.
 Ensure that all sponsorship agreements and other documents are in place prior to EL activities begin.
 Serve as an advocate and central point of contact for experiential learning activities across the institution.
 Serve as the primary resource for students and faculty for all operations related to Experiential Learning activities across the institution.
 Assist faculty in the execution of a communication plan for ongoing events and scheduling of Honors Programming initiatives to Honors Program students.
 Serve as a liaison, as needed by Honor Program faculty leads, between departments in coordination of Honors Programming.

Bonner Leader Program:
 In collaboration with Enrollment and Student Services, develop and implement a plan to recruit a diverse pool of low-income, first-generation students who are interested in service learning.
 Demonstrate innovation in converting the 8 semester Bonner curriculum into 5-6 semesters while maintaining the integrity and addressing the goals of the Bonner program.
 Intentionally develop a culture of excellence, trust, and collaboration within the Bonner program.
 Collaborate with administration, faculty and staff to ensure the Bonner program is in line with our mission and strategic plan.
 Collaborate with the Admissions and Financial Aid offices to determine funding for potential students.
 Provide oversight and advisement for each Bonner.
 Work with Recruiting and Bonners to visit community colleges and high schools for recruitment opportunities.
 Plan and implement the Bonner curriculum in an engaging way.


Required Qualifications:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
• At least three years of experience working with community groups, student leaders, student organizations.
• Two years of supervisory experience.
• Knowledge of EL and/or field experience concepts and expectations.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Knowledge of experiential learning theories.
• Strong skills in short-term planning, analysis, problem-solving, and customer service.
• Demonstrated experience in project management with the ability to initiate, design, plan and execute multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to perform data analytics.
• Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Access and Excel database packages.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships with students, faculty, and the public.
• Ability to serve as a representative of the University during site visits and recruiting activities.
• Ability to work independently, or with minimal supervision.
• Ability to analyze job tasks, offer solutions, and work with others toward implementation.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including occasional evening and weekend hours.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to effectively work with a team of diverse stakeholders.
