Position Summary:
The Department of Animal & Veterinary Science (AVS) in the College of Agricultural & Life Sciences (CALS) invites applications for a tenure track faculty position in Beef Production Medicine at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level, with the possibility of tenure.
The primary responsibility is to be an active contributing member of a strong Food Animal Medicine Faculty group located at the University of Idaho (UI) and Washington State University (WSU), specifically, teaching of beef production medicine and general food animal blocks for 4th year veterinary students from the partnership in veterinary education with Washington State University, College of Veterinary Medicine (WSU-CVM) in Pullman, Washington.


Minimum Qualifications:
• DVM required by date of appointment.

• Must be a licensed veterinarian in Idaho is required by start date.

• Capable of providing excellent primary care for all large food animal species.

• Must demonstrate ability to collaborate with other faculty in AVS in teaching, advising, and conducting research trials with a proven background in research.

• Must also have the desire and ability to interact with veterinary practitioners and livestock producers in Idaho.

• Must meet the requirements for the rank of Assistant and/or Associate Professor at the time of hire.


Preferred Qualifications:
• MS or Ph.D. in related field

• Advanced training and board certification in a relevant veterinary specialty.

• Experience in Beef production medicine.


Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
Successful candidate will regularly be expected to handle livestock, work outdoors, and may need to lift, carry and/or otherwise move materials in excess of 50 pounds. Extensive travel will be expected at times throughout the year.
