College of Arts & Science: Academic Director organizes and leads the development, coordination and scheduling of didactic course content of the Physician Associate program, providing course instruction and academic advising; serves on program and university committees; and participates in local, state, regional and national professional activities and organizations in support of the program and the profession.

Duties will include and are not limited to: directing didactic program delivery and ensuring dynamic development of the curriculum; preparing syllabi consistent with program mission and modular learning models; classroom teaching and working closely with the faculty to ensure compliance with educational objectives, ensuring appropriate distribution of faculty work load and resources; recruitment and scheduling of guest lecturers for didactic courses; directing and leading test preparation and examination delivery; developing mentorship programs and communication with students and faculty; constructing and coordinating remediation policy/program; student and program assessments, assisting with data collection and analysis to support ARC-PA self-assessment process; working closely with the program director and communications director to ensure accuracy of program reporting; serving on committees assigned by program director and assisting with the student selection process; performing any other responsibilities delegated by the PA Program Director and/or the Dean.

Requirements:

  • NCCPA-certified Physician Assistant;
  • Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program;
  • Licensure in Ohio or ability to obtain Ohio licensure within twelve months of appointment;
  • Minimum of three years of clinical practice experience
  • At least three years of teaching experience in an accredited Physician Assistant program;
  • Experience in didactic and clinical curriculum development and review.

The terms of the faculty appointment will depend on education and experience. Those who meet the minimum qualifications are eligible for appointment as an Assistant Teaching Professor. Appointment at advanced rank (associate) requires credentials demonstrating at least 5 years of high-quality teaching and service in a Physician Assistant program.

This position is available to persons who are currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time and indefinite basis. (Persons authorized to work on such a basis include US citizens, lawful permanent residents (“green card” holders), asylees, refugees, and temporary residents under IRCA.)

Consideration may be given to candidates with knowledge and proficiency in the development and delivery of didactic instruction; including development of competency-based materials for PA education; awareness of and adaptability of various trends in educational methodologies for teaching; evidence of marketing, analytic and outcome skills; exceptional small and large group communication skills; work effectively in interdisciplinary teams.
