The University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) is seeking an Assistant Vice Provost, Applied & Off-Campus Programs for the Division of Professional Studies. Reporting to the Vice Provost, the incumbent will be responsible for executive level leadership of UMBC’s applied masters programs and off-campus undergraduate and graduate programs (UMBC Shady Grove).   The incumbent is a key stakeholder in UMBC’s Strategic Enrollment Plan implementation and other initiatives to drive enrollment growth.  This position is a senior leader in the Division of Professional Studies.

Specific duties include:

  • Strategic leadership, direction, and management of DPS' applied graduate partnership programs. Includes oversight of collaborations with sponsoring academic departments, Academic Deans, Academic Chairs Graduate Program Directors, enrollment management, marketing, faculty, and student communication.
  • Strategic leadership, direction, and management of the UMBC programs at the Universities at Shady Grove (USG). Includes oversight of collaborations with sponsoring academic departments, Academic Deans, Academic Chairs, Program Directors, enrollment management, marketing, faculty services and student services.
  • Supervision of a non-exempt Program Management Specialist providing academic scheduling and administrative support.
  • Supervision of Director, Office of Professional Programs and Director, UMBC Shady Grove.
  • Administers the budget, financial and personnel management for assigned portfolio which comprise approximately $8 million in annual revenue, 42 full-time employees and more than 100 adjunct faculty.
  • Support UMBC efforts to innovate and create new academic programs in the assigned portfolio.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Requires a Master’s degree, Ph.D. preferred.   Requires at least five years of Director level experience in undergraduate and graduate enrollment management, including but not limited to marketing, recruitment, and admissions, as well as off-site academic initiatives.  Also requires three years (five preferred) of new program implementation experience including but not limited to launching new academic programs and initiatives. Must be proficient in utilizing technology, namely a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, to drive enrollment.  Note: A background check will be required.

Starting salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is a full time position and includes full university benefits.
