Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs – Cleveland State University

Cleveland State University (CSU) invites nominations and applications for the position of Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs. The Provost is the Chief Academic officer of the University, reporting directly to the President and serves on the President’s Cabinet.

The provost will be an innovative leader who will provide an energizing vision for enriching academic programs and faculties, and enhancing teaching, research and the student experience. The provost will serve as a strong partner to President Harlan M. Sands to continue a transformative and ambitious agenda and move CSU in the directions as determined by the University’s aspirational plan for the future – Emerging from the Pandemic: A Blueprint for CSU 2.0. Goals in this plan include growing student enrollment, enhancing funded research, hiring several hundred new faculty, and realignment of a number of colleges and programs.

The successful applicant will: have a terminal degree from an accredited university and a record of scholarship and research commensurate with a tenured full professor at CSU; possess substantial senior administrative experience as a dean (or equivalent) or higher; have vision, integrity, creativity, energy, and acumen; possess collegial, collaborative, and diplomatic skills; and understand and appreciate the value of liberal arts, professional education, and scholarly research.

Founded in 1964, Cleveland State University is a public research institution that provides a dynamic setting for engaged learning. With nearly 16,000 students, ten colleges and schools and more than 175 academic programs, CSU was again chosen for 2021 as one of America’s best universities by U.S. News & World Report, including the #1 public university in Ohio for social mobility.
