The Department of Biological Sciences
at the University of Delaware (UD) invites applications for a
one-year temporary faculty position at the rank of Assistant
Professor (renewable up to three years in total, subject to
department needs and satisfactory performance), starting August 16,
2021. The ideal candidate will have expertise in teaching
introductory and intermediate biology classes to biology majors and
non-majors, including core concepts in molecular and cellular
biology, genetics and evolution, plant and animal physiology,
ecology and population biology. Experience in teaching some or more
of these concepts to upper level students is preferred.
Minimum qualifications for the position are a completed Ph.D. in
Biological Sciences or a related field, prior to appointment, and a
demonstration of teaching interest and experience.
Responsibilities include teaching introductory and/or intermediate
lecture courses, development of curriculum, coordination of
lectures with associated laboratory sections, and administrative
tasks. The position may also include Department, College and
University service. This position offers a strong, supportive
setting for teaching in the environment of an active research
Department. The successful candidate is expected to excel at
teaching and mentoring students who are broadly diverse in regard
to race, ethnicity, gender, and sexual orientation. One of the
