This is an exciting time to join the University of Southampton.

The Faculty of Social Sciences at Southampton is unique among its Russell Group comparators. It includes the School of Mathematical Sciences, the Schools of Economic, Social and Political Sciences, Southampton Law School, Southampton Education School and Southampton Business School. It is also home to the Doctoral College and the Centre for Higher Education Practice.

The Faculty is recognised nationally and internationally for its sector-leading research, enterprise and education, which when combined, create a unique environment for developing more than 3,200 undergraduates. Our disciplines regularly rank in the top quartile within the National Student Survey, complemented by a strong postgraduate community of over 2,500 students from an exceptionally diverse range of backgrounds.   

The role

As the Dean of Faculty, you will shape the future Social Sciences at Southampton. Your innovative thinking and passion to make a difference, will ensure the continued success of the Faculty. You will play a pivotal role in the strategic development and operation of its education, research and enterprise. You will be part of the University’s executive leadership team, reporting directly to the President and Vice-Chancellor. As such you will have responsibility for the strategic direction and performance of the University. You will represent the University and Faculty externally to enhance reputation and contribute to the University’s development activities.
