Position Summary:

The La Follette School is highly ranked among graduate degree public policy programs and enjoys a
worldwide reputation for research and teaching. This position is responsible for providing complex administrative support for the La Follette School and the La Follette School Director and completes a variety of tasks. As the School receptionist and first point of contact, this position provides friendly customer service to create a welcoming environment and make connections to appropriate resources and personnel. This position assists in organizing multiple facets of the School operations and provides logistical, travel, purchasing, and other day-to-day support to faculty, staff, students, and visitors. This position works both independently under general supervision and as part of a team to manage multiple priorities and perform responsibilities accurately within time deadlines.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

No Degree Required. Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

At least one year of experience providing administrative support to an organization

Required Skills:
-Effective verbal and written communication skills
-High attention to detail
-Excellent organizational skills
-Ability to multi-task
-Ability to exercise good judgment, handle sensitive matters and maintain confidentiality
-Computer literacy with experience with a wide range of computer software, specifically Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel

Preferred Skills:
-Experience in higher education
-Experience with UW travel, purchasing, records management, and financial policies
-Knowledge of process improvement techniques
-Excellent problem-solving skills

Additional Information:

A successful candidate must have exceptional interpersonal skills.



Work Schedule:

This position works on-site Monday-Friday 8:15am - 5:00pm with limited flexibility.
