STATUS : Part time / Seasonal, Grant-funded No SURS
DEPARTMENT : Workforce Education
DIVISION : Academic Affairs
CLASSIFICATION : Non-exempt
UNION : Non-union
REPORTS TO: Program Manager, Records & Reporting
PLACEMENT : Clerical gr. 4
MINIMUM PAY RATE : $14.00 per hour

Position Summary

This is an “hours as needed” position throughout the year with no weekly guarantee of hours, to assist with orientation and test proctoring in the Workforce Education department. Provides a variety of clerical, proctoring, intake, placement and assessment services for current/prospective ESL, ABE, and ASE adult education students at various site locations to include Romeoville, City Center, and Morris Education Center. Requires a flexible schedule including days, evenings, and an occasional weekend day.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assist students in completing registration forms and determining appropriate testing.
2. Complete registration procedure for each student (intake, goals, class assignment).
3. Administer appropriate placement assessment tests to all students in paper/pencil or online testing modalities.
4. Confer with students and assign to appropriate classes based on students’ scores on assessment test.
5. Work closely with Adult Education staff to ensure that students are tested with the proper test and placed in the proper class.
6. Monitor number of students in each class and keep accurate records of students’ testing information.
7. Administer and score pre and post-testing for Adult Education students both paper/pencil as well as online testing.
8. Conduct orientations for new adult education students.
9. Work collaboratively with others (e.g. colleagues, stakeholders, vendors) to accomplish functions and responsibilities.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.
