Mission or Goal of Unit

The mission of the VTCC is to improve the mental health of children and families through clinical care, research, education and public awareness.

Chief purpose of this position in support of above mission or goal

The Department of Psychiatry at Virginia Commonwealth University is currently seeking a full time child and adolescent psychologists to serve as its Division Chair, a member of the Department’s leadership team. The chief purpose of the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychology is to improve the mental health of children and families through clinical care, research, education, and public awareness. This is an opportunity for a dynamic leader to help the Department of Psychiatry build collaborative research relationships with clinicians, scientists, trainees, and students and to work across the university and externally. The successful candidate should have the vision and interest in helping VCU become a national leader in child and adolescent care and research at the local, regional, and national level and train the next generation of psychology professionals.

Position Responsibilities

The Division Chair will be primarily responsible for managing and developing the C&A psychology division; providing leadership in the implementation and evaluation of evidence-based treatments; providing clinical care; teaching and supervising trainees; research and other scholarly work. The incumbent will be responsible for recruiting and retaining faculty, providers and staff; educating, supervising, and recruiting trainees; maintaining and developing our APA accredited Pre-doctoral Internship as well as our Master’s and Post-doctoral level training programs/experiences; developing innovative programs; and expanding our research initiatives. This position may participate in federally funded research as a co-investigator or principal investigator.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience treating children/adolescents and families as a Licensed Clinical Psychologist

• Licensure or license-eligible to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia

• Supervisory experience

• Ability to work as member of an interdisciplinary medical team

• Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
