Job Description:
The Mental Health Services Specialist provides direct mental health care to students, including engaging in suicide risk and substance abuse assessments. Coordinates training and educational outreach related to mental health, substance abuse, and suicide prevention for faculty, staff, and students. Organizes health, wellness, and preventive initiatives on campus. Develops relationships with community mental health providers and refers students for off-campus treatment as necessary. Serves on EscaRosa Suicide Prevention Coalition. Serves on the College Behavioral Intervention Team (Pirates CARE Team). Serves as a facilitator for Suicide Prevention Training for Gatekeepers. Reports to the Executive Director, Institutional Equity and Student Conduct. This is a grant-funded position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited institution with a master’s degree in psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, and documented evidence of at least 150 hours of direct client contact. Successful results of a criminal background check are required. NOTE: The awarding of the master’s degree is a non-negotiable condition of employment. Successful results of the criminal background check required.
Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations. Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Current licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, or Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Experience working with higher education student population.
Salary : $38,500.00
