Position Summary

The Department of Materials Design and innovation ( MDI ) at the University at Buffalo, State University of New York (UB) is seeking applications for a Distinguished Research Fellow. We are looking for candidates who can operate effectively in a diverse community of students and faculty and share our vision of helping all constituents reach their full potential. The successful candidate(s) will be involved with the following:

1) The application of multiscale computational methods to both molecular chemistry and materials design applications.
2) The development and application of advanced informatics methods as applied to materials science data.
3) Overseeing research of graduate students and assistance in proposal writing and program reports in addition to preparing manuscripts.
4) Developing and assisting in the development of informatics aided teaching modules for materials design and computational materials science.

Minimum Qualifications

Doctorate in computational materials science, chemistry, physics or a related scientific field. Demonstrated publication record in applying first principle and electronic structure methods to study of surfaces, thermal and electronic transport in functional and structural materials.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity in materials informatics, machine learning methods, chemical spectroscopy, study of surface, thermal and electronic transport in functional and structural materials and a thorough knowledge of Libraries and Packages such as Pandas, Keras, Tensor Flow, Sci-kit Learn, LAMMPS, VASP .
