Working Title: Pre-school Teacher Official Title: Student Services Specialist Employment Class: Non-instructional Academic Staff FTE: .56 Compensation: $27,325 base salary($15,302 for 0.56 FTE) FLSA Status: Exempt Terms of Employment: 9-month academic year, fixed term renewable Position Summary: The pre-school teacher plans and carries out a daily program designed to meet the physical and developmental needs of the children between the ages of two and a half and six years in the University Children's Center. The preschool teacher reports to the Director of the university Children's Center. Responsibilities

80% Supervise Children
a. Help child develop attitudes of sharing.
b. Help children adapt to and cope with realistic situations and assist them in developing suitable habits in eating, dressing and hygiene.
c. Assist children in finding appropriate ways of handling feelings.
d. Make daily observations of the health of children and report any conditions requiring attention to the director.
e. Report any suspicions of child abuse, neglect or maltreatment to the director.

5% Supervise Student Aides/Student Teachers
a. Help supervise and encourage the development of assistant teachers, child care workers, volunteers and other child care personnel.
b. Assume responsibility for the operation of University Children's Center in the absence of the director.

10% Lesson Planning and Child Portfolios
a. Plan, schedule and implement the daily program of appropriate development experiences for children using Wisconsin Early Learning Model Standards.
b. Make monthly goals for assigned children.
c. Make observations on the emotional, physical, intellectual and social development of the children.
d. Complete written assessments on the children.
e. Provide for the special and individual needs of each child.
f. Write monthly newsletters for parents.

3% Meetings/Conferences
a. Participate in regular parent-teacher conferences and seek the involvement of parents in the Children's Center Program in participating in parent meetings and by demonstrating an interest in the children beyond the center.
b. Participate in regular staff meetings, training sessions, conferences, workshops and other career development activities.

2% Physical Environment
a. Maintain the physical environment in a safe manner so it is conducive to the children's growth and development. Qualifications Required: Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education
Registry Level 12
Minimum 1 year of experience in early childhood education setting
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
Registry Level 14
At least 3 years of experience in early childhood education
Wisconsin Early Model Learning Standards Training
YoungStar Experience
Experience supervising staff
The pyramid model training
