The Centre for China Studies (CCS) at The Chinese University of
Hong Kong is a department-level unit that offers English-taught
undergraduate and postgraduate programmes (including MA, MPhil and
PhD) and commits to the highest international quality of
interdisciplinary teaching and research on modern and contemporary
China.
CCS is now inviting applications for the post of Research Assistant
Professor. Applications from early-career scholars with a doctoral
degree and expertise in modern or/and contemporary China will be
considered. Individuals with doctoral training in anthropology,
history, or sociology are especially encouraged to apply.
The appointee is expected to be able to secure RGC grants and
similar external competitive grants and carry out modern and
contemporary China-related research for publication. The appointee
is also expected to undertake light teaching duties at both
undergraduate and postgraduate levels and work with the Centre’s
faculty members to organize academic activities such as
international seminars and conferences.
Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for up to
three years, renewable subject to mutual agreement and good
performance. Applications will be accepted until the post is
filled.

plan that shows evidence of and potential for independent research
(no more than 800 words); (3) copies of academic credentials (esp.
the PhD certificate); (4) one sample written work, such as a
published article, book chapter or chapter from a dissertation; and
(5) names, addresses and e-mail addresses of three referees to whom
the applicants’ consent has been given for their providing
evaluation letters.
