Reporting to the Provost and Executive Vice President, the Vice Provost for Digital Learning Initiatives has responsibility to oversee and implement priorities and policies to develop and maintain a culture of academic excellence throughout the University's digital learning initiatives. The vice provost is responsible to coordinate all online and distance education strategies for the university. The vice provost will lead the university's efforts to develop and implement centralized support activities and support academic programs using distance and online delivery methods. The vice provost works in partnership with the academic deans, department administrators, faculty, and senior leadership to support efforts with program planning and implementation to serve the State of Idaho and beyond. The vice provost facilitates the appropriate inclusion of faculty, staff, students, and stakeholders in the University's decision-making process for these initiatives. The vice provost is expected to employ strategies that align with the University's strategic goals while carrying out the mission of the unit. This is a new position within the institution.


Minimum Qualifications:
• Master’s degree or higher
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience leading institutional digital learning initiatives that include course and curriculum development in higher education.

• Minimum of five (5) years of experience using digital learning technologies including learning management systems for education in an online, distance, or hybrid format.

• Experience managing a team or academic unit in higher education involving interactions with faculty, staff, and administrators.

• Familiarity with program assessment, student learning outcomes, program accreditation, compliance for offering on-line programs, and data use to conduct market analysis needs, etc.


Preferred Qualifications:
• Doctoral Degree

• Graduate degree in instructional design, curriculum or instruction, educational technology or relevant field to the position.

• Experience working in a multi-campus higher education institution.

• Experience working with academic support programs (enrollment management, student affairs, faculty develop initiatives, etc).

• Experience working with diverse student and/or faculty populations.

• Ability to think critically, analyze information and data, independently make decisions, effectively organize workflow, and strategically plan to lead and manage change in a positive and inclusive manner.

• Ability to interact with constituents by accurately conveying technical information and constructively responding to feedback or recommendations; establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse populations.

• Knowledge of Blackboard or Canvas learning management systems.
