OVERVIEW

The Finance Department at the University of St. Thomas Opus College of Business invites applications for a full-time, limited-term position in real estate, beginning in September 2021. Limited-term appointments will be without tenure and are not tenure track appointments. Primary duties of the position include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in commercial real estate, recruiting and advising real estate majors, reviewing curriculum, and coordinating curricular and co-curricular student activities. The position also serves as the director of the Shenehon Center for Real Estate.

The University of St. Thomas is the only program in the area to offer an undergraduate degree in real estate. It focuses on all aspects of commercial real estate and supports the vibrant real estate industry in the Twin Cities.

 

The Shenehon Center for Real Estate promotes education through real estate industry outreach, research, and professional development programs, including the selection and promotion of the Minnesota Real Estate Hall of Fame. The Center also houses the UST Real Estate Advisory Board which helps guide the activities of the real estate program and Center. Members of this advisory board are prominent leaders of the real estate community from the Twin Cities area who advise on curriculum, coordinate mentors to connect students and alumni with industry professionals, and support job and internship placement of real estate majors.

QUALIFICATIONS

At a minimum, qualifications include: (1) Masters in Business Administration, Real estate or related field or alternatively, JD in Law; (2) one semester experience teaching or guest lecturing real estate courses at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels; and (3) fifteen years of industry experience in real estate. Applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and to building/maintaining relationships with the Twin Cities Real Estate community and other stakeholders.
