The part-time office coordinator will provide support services to students at 119 Euclid Ave. and the director of diversity and inclusion. 119 Euclid Ave. is a building that is dedicated to serving and supporting the needs of students who identify as Black and/or within the African Diaspora. The part-time office coordinator will provide support services including but not limited to: oversee the administrative functions of 119 Euclid Ave., greet building visitors, supervise 119 Euclid Ave. student employees, manage room reservations and office spaces, assist in programming development and execution, manage and order building supplies, coordinate building functions and events, manage administrative paperwork, and assist in creating building communications.

The coordinator will assist in providing support services/resources for undergraduate and graduate students who frequent 119 Euclid Ave.
The part-time office coordinator will be responsible for maintaining close working relationships with the Office of Diversity and Inclusion and will serve as a brand steward for the office’s work and initiatives. Preferably, the individual will have a sense of civic engagement in dealing with the broader Syracuse community regarding various aspects of the Black community. As the first point-of-contact for 119 Euclid Ave., the part-time office coordinator will demonstrate an appreciation and sensitivity to the needs of Black and/or within the African Diaspora students and the full spectrum of equity, diversity, accessibility, and inclusion elements.


Associate’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. High School diploma is required.

Must have no less than three years of work experience in a similar or related position dealing with people from diverse backgrounds

Job Specific Qualifications

Must be proficient in Windows, Microsoft Office 2000 (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, Microsoft PowerPoint).

Knowledge of social media platforms is a plus.

Demonstrated ability to prioritize and deal with multiple demands, strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Responsiveness, attention to detail, and reliability is a must.

Ability to handle sensitive information and exercise independent judgment is required.

Appreciation and sensitivity to the needs and experiences of Black and/or within the African Diaspora students is necessary.


Serve as building coordinator and oversee the administrative functions of 119 Euclid Ave., including: phone and in-person reception, meeting room scheduling, manage administrative and financial paperwork for the building, manage graduate student space and usage. Manage email distribution lists and listservs.

Brainstorming events and programs that can be recommended to students for implementation. Supervise the publication and distribution of the materials to 119 Euclid Ave. students related to campus events, programs, initiatives, and activities. Identify opportunities for community collaboration that can be presented to students for implementation. Assist with assessment of activities, including tracking the utilization of the building. Become acquainted with all resources, programs, and supports for Black and/or within the African Diaspora students. Maintain archives for building events, programs, and services. Interact with the department of public safety regarding security and safety needs where applicable.

Hire, train, and supervise student staff and office volunteers.

Submit monthly budget reports to the director, diversity and inclusion. Prepare building reports and manage building databases.

Attend campus and regional staff development opportunities as mutually agreed upon by the incumbent and director.
