Planning and Assessment Coordinator

Position Category: Staff - Full-Time

Summary:
The Planning and Assessment Coordinator provides research, process administration, and office management support for Institutional Effectiveness, Planning, and Accreditation Support (IEPA), the Vice President for Planning, Budget, and Human Resources (VP-PBHR), the Policy Office, Academic Quality Assurance (AQA), and other colocated organizations. The Planning and Assessment Coordinator is IEPA's key professional, operational staff member, with immediate responsibility for major aspects of a wide range of projects such as institutional planning research, institutional assessment, the unit strategic planning and assessment process, and accreditation. The position also serves as the office manager for IEPA, the Policy Office, and AQA; provides research support to VP-PBHR; provides process support for the policy development process and assessment of student learning; and coordinates part-time and student worker front desk staff. The coordinator formally reports to the Director of IEPA, and works under the operational management of staff from supported units on specific tasks.

Required Qualifications:
Any combination of five years’ education and experience in fields or disciplines that prepare the employee with the specified knowledge, skills, and abilities.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge
• Ethical and professional standards of an office environment in higher education, including but not limited to the UVU Code of Conduct; policies on attendance, fiduciary responsibility, conflict of interest, data protection, and harassment and discrimination; and general standards of professional demeanor.
• Standards for effective written, spoken, and visual communication in U.S. English usage.
• Basic principles of descriptive statistics, quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, program evaluation and assessment, and data management.
• Structure and major issues in state and national higher education systems, planning, assessment, accreditation, and public policy.
• Basic principles of strategic planning, assessment, accreditation, and policy development and approval process.
• Basic principles of organizational budget and financial management, policies, procedures, and practices.

Skills
• Perform job functions in a Windows networked computing environment using Microsoft Office, survey and data reporting software (e.g., Qualtrics and Tableau), document storage and management systems (e.g., Box), statistical analysis software packages (e.g., SPSS, SAS, R, or Excel), and online content management systems (e.g., OU Campus or Wordpress).
• Perform user-level operation and maintenance of office equipment such as printers, copiers, and scanners.

Abilities
• Effectively and tactfully communicate on behalf of IEPA, PBHR, and other represented groups through speech, writing, and visualization in standard U.S. English.
• Exercise good judgment and discretion when communicating on behalf of those one may be seen as representing.
• Conduct effective formal presentations to small and medium-sized groups (fewer than 50 people).
• Proofread and edit documents produced by others applying appropriate stylistic standards
• Develop appropriate and effective communication materials across multiple media.
• Identify and execute research strategies appropriate to the issues being researched.
• Identify, understand, and apply internal and external principles, policies, procedures, and standards to specific contexts.
• Prepare and manage documents for meetings, internal processes, and external audiences.
• Coordinate personnel and services in support of meetings, events, and other operations.
• Complete budget, finance, and procurement processes; maintain local budget documents; and communicate financial, budget, and procurement information.


Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.


Physical Requirements:
Physical requirements of typical office and training environments, including to speak clearly in training sessions, use a computer, and review documents through either typical or adaptive systems.

Pay Range: $37,829 - $47,286
