Doane University’s College of Arts and Sciences, a nationally recognized liberal arts and sciences university in Crete, Nebraska invites applications for a tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor of Music beginning August 2021. Ph.D. preferred, advanced ABD considered. Responsibilities include teaching music theory and ear training, teaching piano lessons, and overseeing all piano instruction and accompanists in a thriving department. Other representative duties will include overseeing and organizing recital scheduling and attendance, attending and organizing weekly music seminars, administering the piano proficiency requirement for all of Doane’s music majors, and accompanying scholarship auditions. The successful candidate will also become involved in the community of local piano teachers, and will be responsible for successfully recruiting pianists to the University. Multiple solo and collaborative performance opportunities are available at various departmental events.  Doane is a residential, liberal arts university, and the music department is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM). 

Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in an active learning and teaching environment, value interdisciplinary studies, are committed to teaching to a diverse population of students, include students with different perspectives, and are responsive to student needs.
