The Teachers College invites applications for a nine-month, instructor of Instructional Design and Technology (IDT) position to begin in August 2021. Emporia State is CAEP accredited and nationally recognized for excellence in teacher education.  

Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities for this position include:

  • excellence in teaching online and face-to-face undergraduate courses in Integrating Technology in the Classroom, Advanced Instructional Technology, Instructional Technology for Secondary Education, and other IDT related topics, as well as reviewing and revising curriculum materials, course syllabi and/or instructional assignments to keep students apprised of current research and practices;
  • selection, training, and supervision of graduate assistants, and management of the instructional technology lab in which they serve;
  • engaging in service to the profession, university, college, and department, and participation in promotional activities for the program, including marketing and recruiting of new students;
  • serving as the program coordinator for the undergraduate courses.  The program coordinator for undergraduate courses will serve as the liaison to teacher education programs requiring IDT courses, as well as work on curriculum changes and assessment at the undergraduate course level.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have an earned master’s degree (doctorate preferred) in instructional design and technology, or a closely related field; prior K-12 and undergraduate teaching experience; demonstrated ability to use technology and technology-based delivery systems; experience in online, hybrid, and remote course creation and design; as well as the ability to keep up with new and emerging technologies. Preference will be given to candidates with, demonstrated professional use of social media (for the purposes of promoting work in the field), as well as expertise in one or more of the following areas: coding, robotics, gaming, the maker movement and makerspaces, 3D modeling and printing, virtual reality, augmented reality, mixed reality, mobile technology, social networking, personalized learning, learning analytics, technology integration, and instructional design.

Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.  Opportunities for summer teaching depend upon the number of students enrolled in summer course offerings.
