Position Overview:

Coordinates program or services activities to ensure relevant guidelines, specifications, policy and/or procedures are followed for academic related programs, groups, and/or services. Assess to make sure the educational needs and goals are being met. Facilitates communication between administrators, faculty, staff, and students concerning program and/or services. Maintains relevant databases to ensure accurate and accessible records. Prepare reports summarizing statistical data or describing program objectives and accomplishments.

Department Specific Essential Job Functions:

Train support staff and assist with training users at multiple levels. Administer grant services and facilitate workshops. Provide data for tracking and monitoring activities. Collect organize, and enter data. Convert manual records to a computer-based information system. Coordinate training activities for College Transition Coaches. Assist Director to keep, track and audit students files and records. Perform other related duties as assigned. Responsible for the program management and implementation of VUB STRIPES. Coordinates activities to facilitate maximum effectiveness and utilization of resources and personnel. Prepares reports and implements policy and procedures. Assume responsibility for the timely completion of all project objectives. Supervise and monitor project staff. Work to communicate and inform understanding of the objectives of the program to external stakeholders. Recruit, hire, and train key program personnel and assist staff in the coordination of external resource personnel.

Qualifications

Qualifications/Experience Required:

Bachelor's degree in related field to the position plus 3+ years of relevant experience or 7+ years of equivalent work experience that provides knowledge of and exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts. Demonstrated application of expertise in a chosen field to achieve results.

Qualifications/Experience Preferred :

Masters degree in education/related field. Four-year minimum experience in an education setting. Two-year minimum working in a TRIO program, or three or more years as a TRIO participant. Experience in information technology or related field. Demonstrated ability to work well with diverse adult learner populations. Excellent communication skills. Ability to work well with peers, supervisor, faculty, staff, and adult learners. Ability to supervise, organize, and coordinate support. Background similar to target population. U.S. Military Veteran or previous work related to serving veterans. Computer proficiency, preferably in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or other professional presentation software (e.g. Prezi). Must have strong understanding of the various forms of educational benefits for Veterans.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Excellent oral and written communication skills and organizational skills. Excellent mechanical, computing, and networking skills. Ability to supervise, organize, and coordinate personnel assigned to project. Excellent computer proficiency: Microsoft Office skills, Excel, Access, PowerPoint. Ability to work independently, handles multiple tasks simultaneously, and interacts professionally with all segments of the University community. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Must be detail-oriented.
