Position Summary:

The Research Specialist will work in the Hess Lab in the UW-Madison Center for Human Genomics and Precision Medicine. The focus of the laboratory is high-throughput functional human genomics. The successful applicant will contribute to research using CRISPR-mediated genome editing in mammalian cells to investigate DNA repair mechanisms, pathogenic effectors, and therapeutic responses as well as develop novel genome-editing technologies and pooled screening platforms.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's degree required; Preferably in biology, chemistry, molecular biology, biochemistry, or related sciences.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

- At least one year of laboratory research (undergraduate or beyond) experience working with some basic molecular techniques preferred.

- Experience with basic laboratory procedures such as one or more of molecular cloning, cell biology/culture, microscopy, transfection, flow cytometry, preparation of next-generation sequencing libraries is preferred.

- Prefix assignment determined by years of relevant work experience.
