Position Summary:

The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Education (OVCRGE) serves as the chief research officer and the principal advisor to the Chancellor and the Provost on research and graduate education. The OVCRGE provides oversight for the institution's broad research enterprise including a university-wide array of faculty and staff research programs with total annual expenditures of more than $1 billion, and promotes graduate education and research by enhancing funding support from internal and external agencies including the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF). The OVCRGE is responsible for an array of multidisciplinary research centers and institutes, research policy and compliance which includes conflict of interest, human subjects, animal welfare and responsible conduct of research and negotiation of industry contracts.

The HR Business Partner interprets, advises, and serves as a consultative resource to OVCRGE on strategy, policies, procedures, statues, laws, and other human resources services to ensure compliance in accordance to policy and law. The HR Business Partner creates and maintains records, develops and implements processes and procedures, disseminates communications, and processes complex transactions to ensure compliance with established rules and regulations.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's Degree - Preferred Minimum

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Well-qualified applicants will have the following preferred experience:
- One year of professional experience working in human resources functions such as employee trainings, recruitments, compensation, benefits, and payroll
-Ability to interpret University of Wisconsin policies and procedures as well as federal and state laws and statutes related to human resources
- Professional experience in communicating complex information related to employment law and/or HR policies
- Good analytical and decision-making skills
- Ability to plan, establish priorities and organize varied and complex tasks
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team setting to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload, manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively, and follow-through on tasks and work unsupervised
- Ability to communicate with tact and discretion in difficult employment and personnel situations
- Ability to use web-based Human Resources Information System (HRIS) or Applicant Tracking System (ATS) for human resources functions such as recruitments, compensation, benefits, and payroll

Our standard office hours are 7:45 am to 4:30 pm, Monday-Friday. The exact schedule can be flexible and will be determined at the time of hire.
