The School of Arts & Humanities at Milligan University invites applicants for the full-time position of Instructor or Assistant Professor of Art (Studio Art). This is a nine-month faculty position (paid over 12 months) with an anticipated start in August 2021.

The successful candidate will be qualified to teach courses in the practice, theory, and history of studio art, including design fundamentals, drawing, painting, at least one traditional 3D art form (e.g., sculpture, ceramics, etc.), as well as courses in art history. As part of an interdisciplinary faculty, the successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues who teach film, graphic design, and interactive media and design. The ability to teach fundamental photography courses is a plus. This faculty member may also receive invitations to guest lecture in the university’s signature team-taught, interdisciplinary Humanities program. This faculty member will be involved in the development, promotion, and recruitment for the Fine Arts program.

Qualifications: By the time of appointment, the candidate must hold a master’s degree in an appropriate discipline from an accredited institution.  A terminal degree (MFA or Ph.D.) is strongly preferred, with an expected degree completion by August 2021.  Successful candidates should demonstrate the following: (1) a history of academic, professional, or creative work in a relevant area as well as familiarity with current research and trends in the field; (2) excellent teaching skills and a commitment to student mentorship; (3) a strong Christian faith, commitment to the university mission, and a lifestyle consistent with the university’s goals.
