Job Description

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is currently hiring for an experienced Associate Director, Grant Administration. Responsible for the strategic and tactical direction of Grants Administration ensuring compliance for University sponsored research grants. Oversee the fiscal management of the University sponsored research grants. Provide departmental oversight to assure proper grant disbursements and recording of grant funds. Manage, supervise, and provide development and mentoring of all Grant Administrators in meeting objectives and functions and institutional policies and procedures. Assist in the development and monitoring of applicable departmental policies to ensure institutional compliance with federal and state regulations including but not limited to OMB and other government regulations and procedures and agency regulations. Collaborate and work across all functions with faculty and staff at the University to continuously improve the administration and management of sponsored research and grant administration.

The position will:

  • Supervise Grant Administrators in the administration of grant proposals and awards.
  • Supervise proposal submissions for government, industry, foundation research grants, including: provide guidance to principal investigators, project budget creation and review, compliance review, interpretation of funding agency regulations, monitoring of allowable expenses and overall financial administration of grants. Manage awarded research grants, including fiscal management, invoicing, tracking and reporting grant performance.
  • Maintain grant files, sub-contracts, consulting agreements, split-funding forms, effort reporting, sub-recipient monitoring, record retention of grant documents, and employee status forms for faculty and staff personnel changes.
  • Continuously develop simplified and effective procedures for grant administration with particular emphasis on regulations and compliance.
  • Generate reports as requested, including raising potential concerns involving grant budget management, administration, compliance issues and other key issues revolving around grant administration and compliance.
  • Coordinate other activities, special reports, projects, and other related duties as assigned


Qualifications

Master's Degree in Business Administration or related field. 5-10 years of experience in Sponsored Research or Grant Administration. Certified Research Administrator (CRA) certification is highly desirable.

Extensive knowledge of the theories, principles, methods, and procedures of grant administration and compliance. Extensive experience in government grants, budget management, compliance and administration. Extensive knowledge of the granting procedures, and laws applicable to the compliance and administration of government grants. Must have a strong understanding of Finance, Accounting and budget. Analytical and problem solving skills; ability to make independent decisions and/or recommend solutions. Ability to develop, analyze and review project budgets and expenditures. Able to manage a variable workload and able to meet deadlines, while providing quality service. Ability to formulate and implement operational policies and procedures effectively for contracts. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Analytical skills with an in depth knowledge of information systems and technical expertise with Microsoft operating systems, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook/email, and Internet end-user applications
