Position Description Summary

The Operations Management and Information Systems (OM&IS) Department in the College of Business at Northern Illinois University is seeking to fill a tenure-track assistant or associate professor position in the field of Information Systems, Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity or Data Analytics begin in Spring 2022. From 2018-2020, the NIU College of Business was ranked in the top 100 for publications in MIS Quarterly and Information Systems Research by the UT Dallas Business School Research Ranking. We are seeking candidates committed to publishing high quality research in top-tier journals that will impact the field and practice and are exceptional teachers. Candidates who have an interest in engaging with industry, are committed to student success, understand and embrace diversity in all its forms, interact and work effectively with peers within and across all areas of business and beyond, have capabilities to teach courses with an experiential learning orientation in data analytics or machine learning topics at both the undergraduate and graduate levels will find the NIU College of Business a great fit for their professional growth. Major responsibilities include – but are not limited to – provide outstanding support to teach courses at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels (i.e., our faculty currently teach in the MBA, Master of Science in Information Systems and the online Master of Science in Data Analytics programs); advance knowledge through scholarly activities (e.g., research publications, presentations, etc.); actively contribute to the department, college, and university; participate in student mentorship, research, recruitment and retention initiatives; and establishing partnerships with professional organizations within both the Illinois region and nationwide.

Required Qualifications

A Ph.D., in Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a closely related field from an AACSB accredited business school is required by the time of the appointment.

Preferred Qualifications

Research, teaching or industry experience and skills in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, interdisciplinary (e.g. AI Applications in Finance) or data science are preferred.
