Coordinator - Workforce Development



Work Site Location: Workforce Training Center

Job Summary:
This position coordinates and performs diverse activities to develop and deliver short term, non-credit Workforce classes. This position serves as a central point of contact with other departments and external constituencies for Workforce classes and is responsible for the resolution of a variety of matters for these programs.

Job Duties:


This list includes, but is not limited to the following:

  • Designs, develops, and implements industry relevant non-credit and certification courses and programs, including Registered Apprenticeships, identified through research and assessment. Writes course descriptions; determines dates, length and location; procures materials and supplies; develops course fees.
  • Manages day-to-day operations of multiple programs and classes, grants and special projects.
  • Interviews, hires and supervises instructors for Workforce classes; negotiates instructor pay; provides instructor development.
  • Evaluates course content and overall program performance in collaboration with industry partners and instructors to ensure high standards of quality and student satisfaction.
  • Collaborates with credit bearing divisions and enrollment services to bridge non-credit students to credit bearing degree programs.
  • Effectively presents information and responds accurately to questions from students, staff and/or the public using effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Serves as liaison with students, instructors and staff, providing guidance in the resolution of course related matters.
  • Maintains current knowledge of qualifications regarding job training and certification requirements for Workforce classes; provides agencies with required statistical analysis, student records, and reporting.
  • Assists with promotion and marketing of courses, providing information for website, email, social media, flyers, and other forms of marketing.
  • Forecasts and manages department budget, ensuring budgetary goals are met.
  • Plans and attends Advisory Council meetings and/or meetings with agencies and business representatives to determine workforce needs and course requirements.
  • Works closely with support staff to improve communications, operations and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Maintains a positive, helpful, constructive attitude and work relationship with supervisor, college staff, students and the community.


Marginal duties:

  • Available to work some evenings and weekends, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.




Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience : Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three years full-time related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience, to include supervisory experience. Must have experience in managing, evaluating, and driving program performance to include implementing changes to improve program performance.

Required License and/or Certifications :
Valid driver’s license required.

• Demonstrated skills in planning, developing and delivering classes, trainings or other activities
• Effective supervisory skills
• Proven fiscal management skills
