Assistant Director for Residence Life Operations



Job Summary

The Assistant Director for Residence Life Operations assists the Associate Director in the management of administrative operations within Resident Life including residential desk operations and conference housing. Provides supervision and leadership to support staff and student employees.

Job Description

Typical duties may include but are not limited to:

•Participates in the strategic planning for Residence Life and assists the Associate Director in developing and implementing the overall departmental strategic plan.

•Supervises the day-to-day operations of seven building/community desks across three distinct residential areas of campus.

•Establishes performance goals and measures to evaluate success of assigned areas of responsibility.

•Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates full-time and part-time staff.

•Develops and implements policies for key and electronic access control in conjunction with Housing Facilities and Business Operations staff.

•Oversees front desk operations including billing and scheduling.

•Manages mail distribution process for students living in the residence halls across all residential areas.

•Oversees space reservation process for common spaces in all residential areas.

•Manages summer camps and conference program to include the hiring, selection, training and supervision of Conference Assistant staff.

•Collaborates with Housing Business Operations staff on a variety of administrative processes including but not limited to census rosters, no-shows lists, room condition reports, key card distribution and collection, and summer camps/conferences.

•Regularly reviews, revises, and develops publications, manuals and other materials related to front desk operations and camps and conferences.

•Assists in the coordination of semester transitions, such as fall and spring opening/closing.

•Serves as main point of contact with Admissions for open houses and housing tours. Ensures tour rooms are set up and maintained.

Other Duties:

•Participates in university events, activities, and serves on committees.

•Serves as part of the Assistant Director on call rotation

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications:

Master’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization.

Two years of professional full-time experience supervising staff within a housing and residence life setting.

Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

Demonstrates commitment to equity and social justice.

Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher and Outlook).

Serves on the on-call rotation schedule and must be available to respond 24 hours a day on a 7 days per week basis for student needs and emergencies.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Higher Education, College Personnel, Counseling, or closely related field.

Four years of professional full-time experience in desk operations, key and mail management and supervising professional staff in a university housing setting.

Experience with Banner Student Information System, Mercury, and Workday.

Ability to foster a cooperative work environment and work effectively in a team environment.

Ability to effectively supervise and train assigned staff.

Ability to perform assigned responsibilities with minimal to moderate supervision.

Ability and skill in data analysis and metrics.

$50,000 - $52,000
