Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities

The Partnership for People with Disabilities, a grant center in the School of Education, is seeking a dynamic candidate to serve as our Sr. Grants Specialists.

This position ensures that tasks are accomplished timely and in compliance with University, federal, and state standards. It serves on the Partnership’s grants and fiscal teams, and will perform duties in the areas of grants administration, fiscal processing, building operations, work flow coordination, invoice monitoring, secondary timekeeping support, presenting and training staff, and additional duties as assigned.

This position must be able to work in the office at an off-campus location in downtown Richmond, VA. VCU does not provide free parking; therefore, the successful candidate must be able to pay for their parking expenses as needed.

Minimum Hiring Standards

In-depth knowledge of rules and regulations pertaining to state agency disbursements, payroll, budget, finances, purchasing, and other transactions; ability to analyze and interpret data required for financial statements and reports; extensive computer knowledge using Excel; several years (at least 3 years) of grants administration experience including pre-award preparation (preparing budgets and completing grant forms;) ability to work on a team; excellent verbal/written communication and customer service skills required; extensive organizational and prioritization skills; ability to handle multiple tasks by stated deadlines; excellent computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office software; ability to work independently; ability to train staff in grants management policies and procedures, experience working in a fast-paced and multi-cultural environment.
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU .

Preferred Hiring Standards

5 or more years of professional experience working in University or related setting; 3 or more years of grants management experience, Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field, and/or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience; prior experience with training fiscal staff.

Experience with Banner, eVA purchasing system, Google Suites (specifically Google sheets), and VDOE Omega System.
