Procurement Specialist, Central Services

Under the supervision of the Director of Purchasing and Contracts the Procurement Specialist supports the purchasing needs of the College; maintains and manages the P-Card Program; manages the Central Store; maintains the mailroom and office machines; performs purchasing and accounts payable activities; and provides direct support of the Purchasing Department, including enhancing methods and procedures. This position performs advanced clerical/technical support duties which may include a variety of complex and/or sensitive, confidential support activities.

Pre-Requisites for the Position (Qualifications Standards)

Education and experience sufficient for the rigors of the position. Examples may include Associate’s Degree and two years related experience or High School Diploma/GED and three years of experience or equivalent education and experience that will provide the necessary knowledge, skill and abilities to perform the functions of the position.

Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) or Certified Professional Public Buyer (C.P.P.B.) or other similar certificate is preferred.

Special Skills or abilities directly applicable to the position: Knowledge of purchasing methods and practices; recording cash receipts, accounts payable and reconciliation of accounts; computer software systems including Microsoft Office; and on-line database systems and websites.

Ability to: read, write, speak and understand English well; operate equipment including cash register, postage meter, computer, and other standard office equipment; maintain databases, records and files; provide training; prepare reports; and maintain strong communications and organizational skills; be detail-oriented; work independently and set priorities; coordinate and monitor projects and activities; multi-task; meet deadlines; deal with sensitive, confidential and/or difficult situations; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with internal and external groups and individuals; operate equipment including cash register, postage meter, computer and other standard office files, maintain databases, build spreadsheets, design and deliver training.
