Lecturer - School Psychology

Derner School of Psychology

JOB SUMMARY:

Adelphi University invites applications for a Lecturer position in School Psychology, non-tenure track, three-year renewable position, beginning Fall 2021. The position will involve: 1) teaching in the School Psychology M.A. and PsyD. Programs, 2) student mentoring and advisement, and 3) service to the school and university as determined by the Dean of the School of Psychology.

Qualified candidates must possess a doctoral degree in Psychology, preferably in School Psychology, be certified or eligible for certification as a School Psychologist in New York, be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Psychologist in New York, possess two or more years of teaching experience within a graduate school psychology program, and possess a record of scholarship in their area of specialization. Identification as a school psychologist and practical experience in the field are highly valued. RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Candidates will be expected to teach eight courses a year at the graduate level, including biological psychology, cognitive and affective bases of behavior, psychological and neuropsychological testing, and a course in their area of expertise.

  3. Service to the school and university as determined by the Dean

QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Earned doctorate in School Psychology or a related field by the date of hire.
  2. A strong background in school psychology, assessment, neuropsychology and/or biological psychology.
  3. Experience in interacting and working with diverse populations and students of color.
  4. Teaching experience in the following areas: biological, cognitive and affective bases of behavior, psychological and neuropsychological testing will be highly desirable.
