Lecturer/Instructional Assistant Professor – Meat Judging Coordinator

POSITION:  A 9-month, full-time, non-tenure track appointment (80% teaching/20% service appointment), with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2021.

 

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  The incumbent will be expected to advise, coordinate, and fund-raise for the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Meat Judging Team and provide undergraduate animal science instruction including general meat science classes.  The incumbent will work closely with other Department of Animal Science teaching faculty to deliver the new undergraduate curriculum. The incumbent will also be expected to aid students in conducting high impact learning experiences through industry internships, undergraduate research, and other experiences. In addition, the incumbent will assist with youth extension and meat judging programs, and be active in recruiting for the Department of Animal Science. The successful applicant will have access to all Department of Animal Science facilities. The incumbent may also be expected to serve as an advisor for extracurricular activities or clubs.

REQUIREMENTS:  A minimum of a M.S. degree in Animal Science or closely related field if the position is to be filled at the lecturer rank. A Ph.D. degree in Animal Science or closely related field if the position is to be filled at the Instructional Assistant Professor rank. Evidence of outstanding teaching or strong indication of teaching potential is required.  Evidence of excellent communication skills (written, verbal, interpersonal). Evidence of strong leadership and team-building skills that is commensurate with experience working with meat science industries. Applicants will be considered for the titles of Lecturer or Instructional Assistant Professor depending on experience and qualifications. 

Additional Requirements:  Experience competing on and/or coaching competitive intercollegiate meat judging teams. A candidate who has demonstrated experience in teaching courses in meat science.
