Clinical Instructor/Clinical Assistant Professor of Exercise Science
The Department of Kinesiology and Health at Georgia State University’ College of Education & Human Development invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track position of Clinical Instructor or Clinical Assistant Professor in Exercise Science (Log #22-082). In addition to a large and diverse Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in exercise science program, the department offers a Master of Science (M.S) in exercise science and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in kinesiology (with concentrations in exercise physiology, psychology of physical activity, and biomechanics and physical rehabilitation).

Position Responsibilities
The Clinical Instructor/Clinical Assistant Professor of Exercise Science is a non-tenure track faculty position with primary workload responsibilities in teaching (80%) and service (20%). The typical teaching load for clinical faculty is four (three-unit) courses per semester. Clinical faculty are eligible for promotion within the Georgia State University system.
Primary responsibilities for this position include:
- Teaching courses and labs in the B.S. exercise science program
- Teaching and supervising pre-exercise science courses and labs required for application to the B.S. exercise science program (see Area F: Courses appropriate for the major)
- Managing the B.S. exercise science application process
- Serving the department, college, university, community and profession
Essential Qualifications
Applicants must have:
- An earned master’s in exercise science, exercise physiology, kinesiology or a closely related field by the time of appointment
- A demonstrated record of teaching excellence, especially in the areas of human anatomy and physiology, physical activity and fitness, exercise physiology and other exercise science major courses
- A commitment to working within a community of many different socioeconomic backgrounds, racial and ethnic backgrounds, national origins, religious backgrounds, gender and gender identities, sexual orientations, persons with disabilities and those with current or past military service
Preferred Qualifications
In addition to the essential qualifications above, preferred qualifications include:
- Previous university or college-level teaching experience, including online or distance learning
- Evidence of curriculum development, including online course development
- Experience in student mentoring, advising and supervising (e.g. internships, practicums, service learning, student organizations, etc.)
- Certification (ACSM, NSCA, etc.)
- Evidence of service to university, community and profession
