Assistant Professor of Instruction, Accelerated Master’s of Public Policy and Administration Program

The School of Professional Studies seeks a full-time faculty member to teach courses and provide administrative support for our Accelerated Master’s of Public Policy and Administration Program (a one-year full-time program for international and U.S. students). 

Qualifications: Doctorate in political science, public administration, public policy, or related discipline from an accredited institution strongly preferred, with a specialization in American public policy and/or public administration. Teaching experience and active scholarship in the field or related fields to include conference presentations and publications. Professional experience a plus. 

Teaching responsibilities: 80%. A combination of master’s level on-campus and online courses, day and evening. Candidate must be able to teach a diverse suite of courses. 

General administrative duties: 20%. Serve on the admissions committee for the Accelerated MPPA program, represent the program at information sessions, mentor and advise students, assist in program initiatives, and other duties as assigned. 

The position requires teaching 6-8 courses distributed across all four quarters of the academic year (fall, winter, spring, summer). The ideal candidate will be prepared teach a suite of diverse graduate courses. Specific courses of interest include Research Methods, Microeconomics, Statistics, Program Evaluation, American Public Policy, and Intergovernmental Relations. Open to discussion of courses to match a candidate’s interests and strengths. The School of Professional Studies is interested in candidates who will contribute to diversity and equal opportunity in higher education through their teaching. 

Salary and Benefits: This position is a two year contract with a competitive salary and is a benefits-eligible position. The contract is renewable depending on program needs and performance.  Preferred start: June 2021. Limited funding is provided to support conference presentations of original, scholarly work.
