The Department of Music at Trinity College is looking for an enthusiastic candidate to fill the position of Visiting Lecturer in Music and Director of Recording Arts. This is a new full-time, long-term teaching position (with an initial two-year appointment), as part of our commitment to meet the increasing demand from students to explore the fields of sound recording and engineering, synthesis, sound design, computer music, and music technology.

Qualifications:

  • Terminal degree in Recording Arts, Music Production, Music Technology, or equivalent fields.
  • Proven college-level experience in teaching classroom courses.
  • Extensive background and professional experience working in recording studios and music/sound production environments.
  • Track record in commercial work, and direct connection to the recording industry, are highly desirable.

Description of Position:

We expect the candidate to excel in the areas of sound recording and music production, able to teach both introductory and advanced courses in those areas. In addition, the successful candidate will oversee our recording studio facilities, providing mentorship and guidance to students through theoretical and hands-on experience in the classroom, the studio, and the field.

We also seek a candidate with a creative and artistic mindset, capable of inspiring our students to explore the boundaries of electronic and computer music. Trinity College is characterized by close collaborations among various disciplines; we are looking for a candidate ready to create connections with other departments and programs in exciting and innovative ways, with the initiative to grow and develop our own program and course offerings.

A recital hall, a large recording space, several isolated performance booths (doubling as practice rooms), and a music technology lab are all connected to the control room, facilitating an array of possibilities for teaching music technology to our students.

This is a position with tremendous potential for professional and artistic growth.
