Job Description:
Raritan Valley Community College has an anticipated opening of Medical Lab Tech Coordinator/Instructor.
*This position is grant-funded.
The purpose of this position is the development and administration of the Medical Laboratory Technology AAS program in the Science & Engineering Department, as well as instruction of clinical courses in the MLT program. During the first year, the primary role of this position is the development of the program to meet the standards for a Medical Laboratory Technology AAS program as published by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS). In subsequent years, this position will implement and manage all aspects of the MLT program as described below.
In addition to department faculty responsibilities, the MLT Instructor/Coordinator:

Is responsible for the development of
the MLT program and the attainment of NAACLS accreditation.
Has primary responsibility for the
ongoing management and administration of the MLT program, including
the selection of faculty and the maintenance of NAACLS
accreditation.
Teaches courses within the MLT
program at a variety of times and locations in response to
institutional needs.
Oversees & participates in
student advising for the MLT program.
Develops an annual operating budget
in collaboration with the Dean.
Oversees program curriculum planning
and development.
Develops and oversees program and
course assessment activities and continuous quality improvement
initiatives.
Ensures that the laboratory
facilities and equipment are satisfactory to meet the outcomes in
the clinical laboratory courses.
Works with industry partners to
develop opportunities for students to complete the required
clinical rotations and supervises the placement of students in
clinical rotations.
Assists in the recruitment of new
students, oversees the application process for prospective
students, and maintains regular contact with all program
students.
Participates in appropriate marketing
initiates in order to maintain enrollment in the MLT program.
Holds regular meetings with the
program faculty and the program advisory committee.
Applies for internal or external
grants to support the MLT program.
Actively participates in professional
development.
Release time to develop the program
during the academic year is 9 contact hours per semester (six
credits of teaching).
Release time for administrative
duties in subsequent years will be determined yearly based on the
need of the program, with a minimum of 3 contact hours of release
time per semester.
Requirements:
The Instructor/Coordinator must be a medical laboratory professional who:

Has an earned Master's or
Doctorate
Holds ASCP-BOC or ASCPi-BOC
generalist certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical
Technologist
Has three years of teaching
experience
Has knowledge of educational methods
and administration as well as current NAACLS accreditation
procedures and certification procedures
