Job Description:

Sacred Heart University's Accounting & IS Department invites applications for a non-tenure-track position, with a path to become tenure track qualified,  in the Jack Welch College of Business & Technology for the academic year 2021-2022. Qualified individuals in all specialty areas of accounting will be considered; preference will be given to those with an ability to teach in multiple areas. Candidates must already be enrolled or plan to enroll in a doctoral degree program within twelve months.  Professional certification in accounting is required. Candidates must have a strong commitment to teaching, using technology and analytics tools in the classroom, scholarly research, and service to the department, school and university. The appointment requires flexibility in teaching day, evening and weekend courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Focus on teaching load of seven/eight courses (commensurate with experience/degree) including undergraduate and graduate-level accounting and accounting analytics courses
  • Academic and Career advising of accounting students
  • Developing an active research agenda
  • Service to the Department, College and University by serving on committees
  • Department representation at on-campus events


Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • DBA or equivalent doctorate in Accounting, from an AACSB accredited institution, preferred; degree in progress or an imminent plan to enroll/complete is required
  • Professional designation as a CPA required
  • Current experience working in the field of accounting required
  • Ability to develop and grow traditional and online academic programs preferred
  • Background in accounting analytics including certifications preferred

About the Welch College of Business and Technology

SHU's Jack Welch College of Business & Technology (WCBT) is AACSB-accredited and enrolls some 2,000 students. It is housed on Sacred Heart University's west campus, approximately one kilometer from main campus. Opened in Fall 2019, in the former world headquarters of General Electric, the west campus is focused on digital innovation and how it is transforming business in the 21st century.  The campus includes state-of-the art labs, equipment, and studios to support research on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data analytics, financial computation, machine learning, augmented reality/virtual reality, and e-game design.

The WCBT offers eight Master's programs: MS in Computer Science, MS Information Technology, MS Cybersecurity, MS Business Analytics, Masters in Business Administration, MS in Accounting, MS Finance and Investment Management, MS Human Resource Management, MS Digital Marketing, and the Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA-Finance).
