Assistant Professor of Chemistry

Utica College, a small comprehensive college in Upstate New York, is seeking applications for a non-tenure-track, faculty position within the Chemistry department to start August 1, 2021. The department offers Bachelor of Science degrees in both Chemistry and Biochemistry, with curricula designed to meet the needs of students interested in chemistry, biochemistry, or pre-health professions. Responsibilities of the position involve teaching four lectures or laboratories each semester. Research with undergraduate students would be modestly supported but is not required. Candidates must have or be near a Ph.D. in Chemistry or a related chemical science by August 2021 and be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate education.

The area of chemical expertise for this position is open, and so other course possibilities depend on the training and interest of the successful candidate. Other course possibilities include: organic chemistry, GOB chemistry, liberal arts chemistry, and an upper level in the candidate’s area of expertise.
