Assistant/Associate Professional Practice Professor or Assistant or Associate Teaching Professor

The Information Technology (IT) program in the College of Engineering at the University of Missouri-Columbia (UMC) seeks candidates to teach courses at the undergraduate level for the IT program starting September 1, 2021. The position is a nine-month appointment ending on May 31, 2022, with the option to renew. The title of the position will be Assistant Teaching Professor, Assistant Professional Practice Professor, Associate Teaching Professor, or Associate Professional Practice Professor, depending on experience. The new hire will teach up to four online and/or face-to-face courses a semester for a total of eight courses a year. Some of these courses could be new developments given expertise and focus area. We seek interested candidates who can teach and develop courses in two or more of the following areas: autonomous systems, machine learning, software engineering, system architecting, user experience, database, and Python.

 

Minimum Qualifications: The qualified candidate will have at least a M.S. Degree in related areas and some teaching experience to qualify for positions with the title of "Professional Practice". 

 

A Ph.D. degree in Computer Science or related field is required to qualify for positions with the title of Assistant Teaching Professor or Associate Teaching Professor.

 

Candidates will be evaluated on: Information Technology certifications, online teaching, or industry experience is a plus. The new hire must work effectively in a team environment and love working with students and discovering technologies within our field. Research interest a plus, but not necessary.

 

Previously taught course syllabi, CV, teaching statement, unofficial transcripts, contact information for three references, and any other materials the candidate believes could be important to demonstrate competencies.
