JOB DESCRIPTION

The University of Indianapolis is accepting applications for the position of Processing Specialist for Loan and Grant Programs for the Office of Financial Aid. This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, serving as the customer service contact, both in-person and via the telephone, and providing counseling to students and parents regarding application procedures for numerous financial aid programs. The specialist will also perform processing tasks related to student loans and athletic grants.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • General programmatic responsibility for loan programs (Stafford, PLUS, Perkins, private alternative loans)
  • Counsels students and parents on the eligibility criteria and application procedures for over 200 federal, state, university and outside financial aid programs
  • Manages the electronic transmission and receipt of loan application data and monitors acknowledgements of loans processed
  • Solves loan processing and disbursement problems working with the Department of Education
  • Diagnoses the various facets of each student’s financial problem and uses problem-solving ability to help the student secure necessary financial aid
  • Maintains knowledge of the functionality of other departments and makes referrals for students with non-financial aid problems
  • Assist in the administration of the Athletic Grant program


QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED is required
  • Proven ability to interact positively and provide exceptional customer service to all internal and external customers is required
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously to meet deadlines required
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, written, and organizational skills are required
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Word is required
  • This position requires a clean or acceptable driving record
