Position Summary:

We seek a Substance Use Prevention Coordinator to support and coordinate evidence-based substance use prevention programming and implementation throughout Wisconsin. In collaboration with the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute, this position will be based in the Division of Care and Treatment Services (DCTS), Wisconsin Department of Health Services.

The Substance Use Prevention Coordinator will support and coordinate evidence-based substance use prevention programming and implementation throughout Wisconsin. The position works directly with communities funded through different grants, community coalitions, local human service and public health agencies, and with other state and federal agencies that address substance use prevention services. In addition, this position performs duties to support the coordination of Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA's) or other grant funded prevention programs. The incumbent uses a health equity lens and promotes diversity and inclusion in program development, implementation, and evaluation.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's degree required in a relevant discipline such as social work, sociology, psychology, political science, public affairs, community health. Master's degree preferred. Fields/areas of specialization include public or population health, behavioral health, evaluation and program planning, health communication, public policy, psychology, social work, education or related field.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

- Two years of relevant experience preferred. Relevant experience may include working in prevention programs as a practitioner or evaluator, managing prevention initiatives in a government or non-profit agency, providing technical assistance and training to human service programs, or related work in a public health agency.
- Experience in program planning, implementation and evaluation expertise is preferred.
- Experience with web-based data collection systems is preferred.
- Knowledge of Tableau software and GIS is desirable.
- Must be knowledgeable in the field of substance use disorder/substance misuse prevention and its evidence-based practices, and in provision of technical assistance and outreach services.
