Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities

VCU HR has an exciting opportunity for an HR Business Analyst to join our team! VCU HR seeks culturally and professionally diverse individuals skilled in people metrics and process improvement.

The primary purpose of this position is to provide analytical leadership in VCU Human Resources to support our strategic partnerships across the University and ensure VCU remains a great place to work for all employees.

General Responsibilities:
•Collects, compiles, and analyzes HR metrics and data from a variety of sources including the human resource information system ( HRIS ), talent management system, management and employee surveys, exit interviews, employment records, government labor statistics, competitors practices, etc.
•Provides insights to HR teams that can be used for decision-making purposes.
•Owns the design, development, and maintenance of ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, and dashboards to drive key business decisions.
•Prepares written and graphical reports on complex HR topics; presents and explains findings to senior leadership.
•Generates ad hoc reports to support various business needs and partners with other technical teams to create scalable solutions for recurring requests.
•Partners closely with HR teams to understand team barriers and provide impactful insights and process improvement recommendations.
•May assist HR leadership with staffing, recruiting, and departmental budgets.
•May guide and/or assist with analysis of performance, benefit, and compensation review and evaluation processes.
•Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Hiring Standards

•Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Statistics, or related discipline (or equivalent experience) coupled with extensive applicable analysis and/or reporting experience.

•Microsoft Access, PowerPoint, and Excel experience. Experience with other analytical software and tools.

•Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS, talent management, and other university systems.

•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

•Strong written and verbal communication.

•Experience creating data visualizations.

•Great organizational skills and attention to detail, able to juggle and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.

•Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU .

Preferred Hiring Standards

•Master’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Statistics, or related discipline and extensive applicable analysis and/or reporting experience.

•HRIS Systems experience.

•Experience with survey software and other analytical tools.

•Proven ability to communicate complex quantitative data in a simple, intuitive format, and present findings in a clear and concise manner.
