Summary

Under general supervision, assists the Student Loan Coordinator with the administration processing of all student loans. Provides counseling for Perkins recipients and processes promissory notes. Evaluates loan records, and makes award adjustments and recalculations to loan records, when necessary. Recalculates student’s awards once they have withdrawn from the University. Takes an active role in Default Prevention Management to insure a low cohort default rate. This is a non-exempt 40 hours/12 month position

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Other duties may be assigned
1. Conducts student loan orientations, entrance and exit counseling sessions, and financial aid information sessions in accordance with federal and institutional policies.
2. Responds to inquiries by researching and resolving issues related to transactions handled by the department; serves as liaison with other university departments in the resolution of day-to-day administrative or operational issues.
3. Assists Student Loan Coordinator with originating and certifying all student loans.
4. Troubleshoots and resolves rejected loan records with COD for all DL Loans.
5. Adds PLUS and additional Unsubsidized Stafford Loans after PLUS approval or denial reports from COD .
6. Certifies Alternative Loans in ELM .
7. Makes adjustments to student’s awards with Alternative, PLUS, and Stafford Loans.
8. Processes Return Funds Forms ( RFF ) within CX and sets loan to export to COD .
9. Assists Student Loan Coordinator with Default Prevention Management with delinquent and defaulted borrowers.
10. Assists with the collection of MPN and Entrance Counseling for all first time borrowers.
11. Provide Counseling and assists with the Perkins Promissory Notes for all Perkins recipients.
12. Processes R2T4 for all students who have withdrawn.

 Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
 Thorough knowledge of: Business English and arithmetic; general office methods, procedures and practices.
 Ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position.
 Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepares reports.
 Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
 Excellent telephone courtesy, knowledge and experience.
 Ability to relate positively and effectively with a diverse faculty, staff and student body.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
