Associate or Full Professor - UW Nephrology

The VA Puget Sound Healthcare System and the University of Washington, Division of Nephrology, Department of Medicine in Seattle are seeking applicants for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor (without tenure due to funding), commensurate with experience. This position would have an annual service period of 12-months [July 1-June 30]. This position will serve as the Section Head for the Division of Nephrology’s VA section and may also work in one or both of the following units: inpatient wards, Renal Dialysis Unit, and subspecialty clinic area. The VA section of Nephrology has a long and rich tradition of scholarship, leadership locally and nationally, and currently includes eight faculty members. The section head will oversee the clinical, educational, and research operations in Nephrology at the VA. The position will include supervision and teaching of fellows, residents, and medical students in the inpatient and outpatient setting. The position will, as defined by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) and the Subspecialty Board of Nephrology, admit, evaluate, diagnose, and provide treatment or consultative services to patients who present with kidney diseases. This position would be expected to have the highest degree of good judgment, ethical behavior and professional demeanor at all times when in contact with patients, peers and all other employees. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. The anticipated start date would be July 1, 2021.
Applicants must prove successful completion of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education or American Osteopathic Association approved post-graduate residency in Medicine or Equivalent. must possess an MD degree (or foreign equivalent) and be ABIM and nephrology board certified (or foreign equivalent). Any U.S. citizen may apply. Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA policy.
