Southeastern Louisiana University Department of Communication and Media Studies invites applications for the position of Instructor in Sports Television Production. This position will actively contribute to undergraduate programming with the university’s cable television channel as well as on digital and social media platforms. An individual in this position will be responsible for teaching entry and intermediate level courses in sports communication, video production, and game day production for multiple sports. Emphasis will be on helping student journalists learn to write with a video camera, understand production values, lighting, shooting angles, framing shots, interviewing, on-air and news feature scripting/writing, video editing, and production.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree in Communication or a related field from an accredited university by hire date.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with sports television production and multimedia journalism.

A proven record of reporting and/or producing news on multiple platforms including broadcast television, online, and social media.

Evidence of high-quality teaching, both face-to-face and online.

Previous strong background in sports television production.

Experience with relevant professional work creating or producing TV and digital video content.

 

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS

Knowledge or experience in game day production.

Ability to tell creative stories and have a passion for multimedia sports journalism.

Ability to work collaboratively to build and grow a dynamic and innovative program in Television and Multimedia Journalism and Sports Communication.
