Job Specific Required QualificationsMaster’s degree in Information or Library Science from a university program accredited by the American Library Association. Demonstrates expertise with information technology, including research databases, LibGuides, discovery systems, library information systems, institutional repository systems, and learning management systems. Ability to provide research assistance and instruction to faculty, staff and students on the use of library resources. Conduct information and digital literacy instruction and orientation to the library. Staff the Questions Desk, providing research assistance to library users. Experience in chat and email research services. Demonstrates expertise in a scientific and technical subject area. Serve as a Library Liaison to a specific School or College, facilitating collection building, library instruction and LibGuide development. Knowledge of collection development principles. Demonstrated experience utilizing strong human relations skills as well as analytical and conceptual skills. Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated flexibility and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment where consultation, collaboration, and cooperation are essential. Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.

Experience designing and maintaining library websites. Expert HTML skills and demonstrated ability to create library web functionality.
DutiesCollaborate and serve as a member of the Discovery and Research
Team by performing public services duties at the Questions
Desk.
Instruct and assist library patrons in the use of electronic
resources and the application of digital content in teaching,
learning, and research. Serve as Library Liaison to a specific
School or College, offering digital and information literacy
instruction sessions, building LibGuides for classes and subject
areas, and selecting resources.
Improves and maintains the library website, presenting library
resources to Kettering students, faculty and staff. Works
effectively and designs pages and services in a manner that is
consistent with Kettering University web guidelines.
