Acute and Post-Acute Care Hospitalist

West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Medicine, Section of Hospital Medicine seek internists for multiple full-time faculty hospitalist positions qualified for appointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank. The successful candidate will be expected to practice in the primary location of Morgantown, WV; however, the candidate may also be expected to perform services at locations in other counties in West Virginia, and in the states of Pennsylvania, Maryland, and additional states to be determined based on expansion and growth of our services and sites. The clinical duties off site of Morgantown will be primarily focused on post-acute care rounding that is less intense compared to inpatient service lines.

This position is clinically based in the section of hospital medicine, with the expectation of a minimum of 26 weeks annually related to clinical duties that can include inpatient and post-acute care activity as well academic responsibilities. There is ample opportunity for additional shifts considered internal moonlighting. We are a growing academic hospitalist section that affords the faculty member teaching opportunities of residents, medical students, and advanced practice providers in both a one-on-one setting, as well rounding teams covering inpatient consults for the Department of Medicine. We are a large tertiary care center that has extensive consultation support and cross department/section collaboration for those faculty members interested in subspecialty fellowship training. In addition, our section has numerous specialty service lines that offer an opportunity for providers to manage a wide variety of patients including cardiovascular, oncology, end stage renal disease, long term antibiotics, complicated infectious disease, and post-acute care patients.

Qualifications: applicants must have an MD, MD/PhD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible to obtain an unrestricted West Virginia medical license. Candidates must have completed an accredited internal medicine residency program and be board eligible or certified in internal medicine at the time of appointment. For appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor rank, a demonstrated track-record of leadership, excellent communication skills, and publications in high-impact journals are required. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
